ONLY GODS — Dark Brand Storefront
Cinematic dark-theme e-commerce for a streetwear label — unique product showcase with WhatsApp ordering today, full checkout roadmap as the brand scales

Overview
A streetwear founder asked us to design a one-of-a-kind dark-themed storefront for ONLY GODS — cinematic hero, ritual-inspired product drops, cart drawer, and WhatsApp order flow for launch, with architecture ready to add payments, inventory, and full e-commerce as the business grows.
Context
ONLY GODS is a curated streetwear brand built around wearable mythology — limited drops, heavy visual identity, and a moody dark aesthetic. The founder needed a bespoke site (not a generic Shopify theme) that feels like the brand: dramatic imagery, unique product presentation, and a checkout path Indian customers already trust — WhatsApp — while keeping the door open for Razorpay, shipping integrations, and catalog expansion later.
Real-world scenario
A fan lands on clothing.onlygods.kaana.in, scrolls through the dark cinematic hero and limited-drop grid, opens a product detail page, adds pieces to cart, and taps WhatsApp to send a pre-filled order message. The brand owner fulfills manually today; when volume grows, the same TanStack Start codebase can plug in payment gateways and automated fulfillment without a rebuild.
Constraints
- Dark, brand-owned visual language — blood-red accents, veil gradients, display typography, not template e-commerce
- Mobile-first showcase with optimized product imagery (pre-build pipeline for heavy JPG assets)
- Phase 1 checkout: WhatsApp FAB + cart drawer with pre-filled order message
- Phase 2 roadmap: payment gateway, order management, inventory sync — without platform lock-in
- Custom domain on shared GCP load balancer (clothing.onlygods.kaana.in)
What we built
- TanStack Start + shadcn/ui storefront with cinematic hero, marquee gospel strip, and drop-focused product grid
- Product slug pages with OptimizedImage pipeline for fast LCP on mobile
- Cart state + CartDrawer; WhatsApp FAB sends structured order intent via wa.me deep links
- Brand-specific copy and layout — "wearable mythology" showcase, not a generic catalog
- Dedicated Cloud Build + Cloud Run deploy (only-gods service) on kaana-prod GCP project
Architecture
- TanStack Router file-based routes (home, product.$slug) → Cloud Run (only-gods) → HTTPS LB → clothing.onlygods.kaana.in
- Cart context shared across header, drawer, and WhatsApp checkout URL builder
- Image manifest + optimize-images pre-build for production asset delivery
Reliability & security
- Containerized deploy with reproducible Cloud Build pipeline
- Image optimization pre-build reduces LCP on mobile product pages
- WhatsApp checkout avoids payment-gateway complexity at launch while orders still convert
Outcomes
- Brand-owned dark storefront live on custom domain — unique to ONLY GODS, not a template
- WhatsApp-native ordering live today for early drop sales
- Extensible codebase ready for full e-commerce integrations as the brand scales

FAQ
How does checkout work today?
Phase 1 uses WhatsApp order deep links from the cart drawer; payment gateway integration is planned for phase 2.
Is the storefront a template theme?
No. ONLY GODS uses a bespoke dark cinematic design on TanStack Start — not a generic e-commerce template.
